WENDY SHUSTER
is an exhibiting visual artist based in Hudson, NY. Her work can be found in collections in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe. She is deeply moved by her recent charcoal-painting explorations with modern dancers, including Julie West (Canada), Mireille Feyzeau (France), Eric Ellul (France)and Sondra Loring (USA), and filmmaker, Jean Marc Lariviere (Canada). She has found many sources of inspiration in the art and art-making of artists of all kinds in diverse regions of the world. Art residencies in Mexico, Paris, Bordeaux, and Ghana have inspired further growth and exploration. Shuster has taught drawing, painting and sculpture for 18 years. She founded and then has directed a teaching studio in the Hudson Valley for over 15 years, and, in 2004, expanded its reach to NYC. She has also taught through independent art programs in Montana and Hudson Valley community colleges, and now teaches at Pratt Institute and CUNY-Hunter in NYC. The most compelling art study she experienced was during four years of advanced work with Nicholas Buhalis in his Woodstock and NYC studios, with additional study at the Sorbonne-Paris, Bard College, Art Students League and Pratt Institute, among others.
